First, we establish the audience’s current situation (Status Quo). Then we highlight the underlying challenges (Conflict). Finally, we provide a clear and impactful solution (Resolution).

I spent the past ten years in digital marketing. Toward the end of my last job, my husband quit his position to start a tech-focused venture. His first big challenge was creating a compelling pitch deck to show investors why his vision had huge market potential and was worth millions of dollars. As a software engineer, though, he didn’t know how to tell a story; as a result, he ended up with a jargon-heavy deck no one else could decipher.
